Understanding The Therapeutic Alliance

The Therapeutic Alliance is a powerful factor in the process of emotional and psychological healing during addiction recovery. There are major four pillars that make up the Therapeutic Alliance, with the singular goal of saving lives and helping you grow a bond with your therapist.

The four pillars of the Therapeutic Alliance are evidentiary clinical philosophy, clinical competency, strategic intervention tools and positive outcomes. These are all things that help you open up during the therapy process, allowing for a strong, mutual bond between you and your therapist.

Having a strong bond with your therapist is extremely important, since it allows for more willingness to open up and explore deep emotional work. Since addiction is always rooted in a root cause, exploring this root cause is essential to recovery and can be hard to do if there is not a strong bond between client and therapist.

The Four Pillars of The Therapeutic Alliance

Evidentiary Clinical Philosophy

One of the most important aspects of finding a treatment center that is right for you is finding a program that you can click with. Every treatment center is different, and they all offer a wide variety of treatment modalities. At Pinelands, we work hard to be able to offer evidence-based treatment. This means you will only be offered treatment plans that have been proven to work time and time again.

All addictions are different. Everyone has different severities and lengths, different backgrounds and different circumstances. There is no one-way, cookie cutter, one-size-fits-all path for everyone suffering with addiction to walk down. Understanding this, we offer a customized treatment plan for everyone that walks into the door of Pinelands. Your treatment will be truly unique to you, allowing for the greatest chances of success as possible.

Clinical Competency

An extremely important aspect of being able to connect with your therapist is the fact that they are experienced, and have likely “heard it all”. Let’s be honest – it can be embarrassing opening up about extremely personal past traumas that have happened in life, as well as unfortunate misgivings due to your addiction. Having a therapist who has experience will know the right advice to give you, as well as a non-judgemental ear to approach your therapy with.

When a therapist has been practicing for a long time and is armed with a long list of certifications and education, it can be more comforting to open up to them rather than someone who is just beginning their career. We employ some of the top professionals in our industry, and not only are they more than competent, they absolutely care about you and your recovery.

Strategic Intervention Tools

When you enter Pinelands Recovery Center, you will be met with an extremely caring admissions staff, who will spend your first few days developing a schedule to fit your needs and personality. You will also be matched with a Recovery Mentor, who is there for you every step of the way throughout your treatment journey. Not only are Recovery Mentors there to give you advice or answer questions about treatment, but they are also there to help guide you through all the nuances of living in a residential treatment facility.

You will also be offered medical detox to help comfortably wean you off of drugs and alcohol. In addition to daily 12-Step meetings, you will be able to find your niche among one of our many specialty groups. These include adults, young adults, chronic relapsers, trauma and more. There is also group therapy, family therapy, community meetings, meditation and alone time, yoga and other exercise activities.

Being able to have an individualized treatment plan allows you to have the best chances for success, as well as being able to click with your program. Feeling comfortable, stress free and happy during your recovery process allows for deeper work, increasing your chances of long-term sobriety.

Positive Outcomes

Your recovery and sobriety is our number one priority. This is why we work so hard to give you a customized treatment plan, as well as match you with a therapist and Recovery Mentor that you can feel comfortable with. No matter how long your stay is with us – 30, 60, 90 days or more – your treatment doesn’t end the day you walk out of the door.

Everyone is offered an aftercare plan, and it can include anything from transitional living to ongoing outpatient therapy. We also check in on you throughout your recovery, and are available to talk or give advice at any time.
